A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteer patients, carers and GP practice staff who meet regularly to discuss and support the running of their GP practice.

PPGs look at the services the practices offers, patient experience and how improvements can be made for the benefit of patients and the practice. Each PPG is different, but they all have the aim of making sure that the GP practice puts the patient, and improving health, at the heart of everything it does.

Joining a Patient Participation Group

A PPG is open to every patient on the GP practice list. People of all genders, ages, ethnicities, and those with health conditions and disabilities are encouraged to join. There are no membership requirements except that patients must be registered with the practice. PPG members should as far as possible, be representative of the practice population.

The Role of PPG ( Patient Participation Group) 

• Develop a productive and supportive relationship with NMC to contribute to excellence in their service provision and enhance patient experience.

• Represent the voice of NMC patients, ensuring that we can represent ALL voices for equality and inclusion in service provision.

• Seek feedback from patients to help the NMC with quality of care and service provision; a patient survey contributes to this.

• Help the NMC decide on their overall service priorities.

• Support the NMC in enabling patients navigate overall service provision to improve health outcomes.

• Support the NMC in their fundraising initiatives.

• Set up initiatives such as talks of interest or collaborations with community services that may benefit the NMC patient population
